Hey there, internet. I know it’s been a few months since I’ve posted anything here, and that the consistency of content on this blog has been spotty at best since it all began. The vision I had for this site was a place where I could dump random fan theories and speculations about a variety of things that I love (similar to the articles I wrote for the Escapist). It seemed like a good idea at the time, but I didn’t really think it all through, since I’m also writing the book series that this blog is connected to and would rather not get burned out.
I am considering taking this blog in a new direction (rather than just leaving it neglected and covered in dust). Less article-based and more stream-of-consciousness. I have no idea how it will turn out, but the great thing about writing a blog is that I get to chose the format, the deadlines and the subject matter. That level of freedom can be intimidating if you let it.
The journey from freelance article writer to creator-of-worlds has been fascinating, full of obstacles and unexpected moments of joy and understanding. In hindsight, I should have blogged more about that experience as it was unfolding last year, but regret is a weed that will spread throughout your life if you let it take root, so I’ll try not to dwell on what this thing could have been so far and just let it be something else.
I’m open to suggestions when it comes to content, like if anyone wants to learn about the inner workings of writing fiction, I’d be happy to discuss that. But there are thousands of other blogs and websites and Youtube videos with more experienced writers already that tackle those issues so adding my twist doesn’t really seem like the best use of anyone’s time.
I really appreciate the number of positive comments that have popped up since this thing started. If you think the blog starts turning south in the future, just let me know. Feedback of any sort is a precious thing for a writer. Whether it be praise or criticism, we crave it and need it. Thanks to all who have commented so far. There will be more discussions about video games and bands and movies etc, but that won’t be the only source of content in the future.
That’s it for now. Expect more regular posting in the coming months. Book 2 is coming along nicely, by the way. I’m aiming to have it published by mid-Spring. More on the books in upcoming posts. Thanks for reading 🙂
